First of all I would like to thank you for the books, DVDs, headphones, biking socks, and cap that I purchased with the gift certificate. Now, I have a little biking story I would like to share. On Saturday I was fortunate enough to do the first Nebo loop of the year. I went with Chucky(semi-pro Mtb racer), Ina(German pro roady, now riding for tmoble) and Tyson Apostle(euro pro, riding for volzbank) We decided to ride slow. I'm not sure what happened to this plan, seeing how we did the ride in 6 hours. I guess 110 miles with more than 4000 ft of climbing was not enough for tyson, so he did the whole ride in his big ring. For me the ride was pure heaven. For the most part, I kept up with everyone, except for Ina smoked me on the down hill. Everything was perfect right down to the gusty tail wind pushing us home from Nephi. The interesting part was the next morning, I noticed I had a lump the size of a hard boiled egg protruding from the inside one of my butt cheeks. Stupid me, I ignored it. I thought, I'll just go ride frank and get the blood flowing and it will go away. This was not the case. I did most of the ride standing and the swelling got worse. Yesterday, I went to the doctor. He seemed pretty shocked at what he saw. To my embarrasment, he had the nurse hold my cheeks apart while he lanced the puss, leaving in a wick to continue to drain the horrible fluid. I'm on an anti-biotic and feeling much better. The doctor said I should invest in one of those wide seats with lots of padding. I told him it would look pretty funny on my trek 5900. He didn't quite understand. Well anyway, thanks again for the swag and letting me vent. I'm hoping I'll heal up quick, I want to do 12 hours of Park City on Saturday.kenny

i have a theory too. when you're fat or haven't trained, you ride the race easier, thus making it seem like weight actually has some correlation to this stupid 5 min thing you've come up with. 10 hours should be something you can do standing on your head. 11 hours you should be able to take a nap during the race. 9 hours is something you and I will never do. Consider 9 hours the limit, like in calculus. Also, owl roadkill is not more awful than regular roadkill, it's more interesting. think of it as a perk of living in the northwest.
