"I suppose it should be 100 miles of 99, but 99 of 29 sounds so much cooler."

Last year it was "99 of 29 plus 1 one for good luck" but that was a bit too, well, wordy. "Miles" was always implied in the name. Being a bit wordy, it got shortened. Plus, 99of29 just sounds cooler than 100of29 'cause of all the nines. Nines are awesome.

@jweb. Good luck finishing this Saturday.

Awesome ride guys...I've run through there a good number of times and I remember how nasty those short hills over in that neighborhood can be.

Neal,
Thanks for showing up at Lake Calhoun on Saturday, the company was much appreciated for the 20ish miles that you rode with me.

I didn't last much longer after you guys left... 2 more laps, a break for lunch, and a realization that I was cramping, tired, cold, and miserable. Luckily for me, the race organizers for the "30-something bearded fat guys riding touring bikes" division of 100 Miles of Nowhere then announced that the race was actually a two-stage event, with the second stage scheduled for Saturday, May 15th.
