To those considering the Canyonlands Half in Moab in March, a) do it, because it is awesome - if you can get in and, b) consider making it a Moab week by adding on the Skinny Tire Festival, which is, I believe, the weekend before, a set a road rides around the area, including one through Arches National Park. I did this in March 2010, and it was amazing.

As for Fatty, maybe he (and the rest of us) should consider the Tour de BBQ in KC in October. It's a Livestrong fundraiser which mixes biking with, yes, barbecue (I think six stops along the 60 mile route). More info here: http://tourdebbq.com/

@Turn The Damn Cranks - Agreed, the last 40-ish miles this year were painful. Gusts up to 30mph and constant wind from 10-20mph with nothing to hide behind was not fun.

@GrannyGear is right that the Seagull is well worth riding. Great people running the event, and riding the course. You get to see wild horses just inches away from you as you approach the 65 mile rest stop. And there's apple pie a la mode at the last stop.

It's woth noting that although flat, just looking at the elevation profile doesn't do the sucker justice. When the wind whips up -- and it always does -- it can be very, very painful. The last forty miles last year were ridiculous -- we were passing lots of folks despite riding stretches at a whopping 10 mph.

@AngieG- I'm all in for the Hall of Fame, maybe we could get them to induct Fatty... or a jersey. HaH!!

I'll volunteer again for the PIE, maybe we can rustle up some brats, and some guacamole. Let's give some thought to taking Elden and Lisa out for a little NoCal ride. Open for suggestions: Tahoe Flume Trail, Mr. Toad's? Maybe we could get Mr. Fisher to race Repack with Fatty... maybe on Klunkers?
"1977, Gary sets the Repack record of 4:22:14, a record that still stands"

Or give Fatty a head start in Davis and see if Gary can catch him;
"1978, Gary wins the Solo Division with the fastest overall time in the 209-mile Davis Double Century, with a time of 9 hours, 18 minutes"

Angie- let me know what I can do to help make this a great Fatty Fest.

LOVE the idea of an annual Davis LiveStrong contingent!! It was unbelievably fun last year. I'll start training for the massive pie consumption immediately.
