I purchased one of these after reading much research. I'd been trying to find something that the wife and I could use to chat while riding. There are a couple of other options but I landed on the Cardo BK-1 duo.

We received them a few weeks ago and have used them on multiple rides. The construction quality is superb. The audio quality for intercom is outstanding and the reliability is solid. We were able to reach about 400 yards before the connection deteriorated, and can still communicate when out of sight if we're close.

The blue tooth functionality seems to work perfectly.

It is just as fatty said, you can whisper and the other person can hear you, even with lots of outside noise. We were going down a steep hill with tremendous wind noise and could still chat at a normal volume. The noise cancellation is perfect.

The price may be high but if you want a perfect intercom with additional functionality this is the system...And I think it is built to last. Cardo also provides a 2yr warranty and will preform other repairs if needed, so it should last.

Thanks for the great review.

I hope these take off. I've been waiting for something like it. If it takes off it should be built into high end consumer helmets IMO.

Fatty or any other Fatty Fan who can answer this question,
Thank you for your tireless contribution to the biking world and providing me with much needed and charished information. As a first time Leadviller I stumbled onto your website while I was doing race research.... to date I have almost read all the posts that have come up when I search "Leadville" on your blog. Funny thing is, as an avid biker, I have been wearing Fat Cyclist T-shirts and a hoodie for the past 4 years or so... I stumbled across them on the Twin Six site. AND not until about a month ago did I know what Fat Cyclist meant or was about. Your blogs and stories have inspired and motivated me. I am planning to register for the 100 miles to nowhere.... here comes the naivete question.... do I need to "join" or "register" with Fat Cyclist to become an official reader of all things Fatty? Or do I simply continue to open your blog and read your posts... kind of feels like voyeurism.

Hi Ric, I got my Duo from a cycle outlet during a recent visit in Europe but I was told its now also available in the States. As to the music from my iPhone, the answer is yes, it faded out and came back after we finished talking.

Dan,
Where did you purchase your Duo? Can you listen to music continuously and then when the other rider talks, the music fades and returns when the conversation ends? Or do you need to push buttons continuously?

Got myself a Cardo BK-1 duo last week and became instantly addicted (even survived an awesome downpour without any problem) Also, since we could ride at distances of at least 400 yards (maybe more) my girlfriend and I could finally ride safely and not side by side as we often did. I really like this BK thing.

I totally thought this was an April Fool's joke, all the way to the end. As for people that think they needs this distraction while riding, they are the fools. Ride and pay attention, listen to music and talk later...

That's why I love your site: Info with a good story, always served with laughter. Thanks for the review.
How's the phone reception? Did anyone make any calls with this? One of the many reasons I love to ride is that while I am riding, my phone is off but now if I had this, I would be like the guy from the phone company a few years ago: "Can you hear me now? Guess where I am calling you from?"
Thanks.
