Hey, the Powerline photo is from where I usually cheer! Love the race report so far – I’ve been looking forward to this! Out of curiosity, has the IT Guy been converted or was this a one-and-done? Or do I have to wait until the end of the story to find out?

Finally! I stayed away from your site all day so I could sit and read your race report and savor it. If I had a bit more willpower I would wait for Friday and read all five posts in a row! Nope, not going to happen. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Damn. This is how I know I’m not worthy to read this blog:

“I hit the first aid station — which I never stop at, because I’ve only been going 25 miles or so and don’t yet need a rest — in 2:02.”

I’m currently in the best shape of my life. I could maybe do 25 miles on a single speed in 2:02, but I’d be wrecked for two days afterwards, and I certainly couldn’t do 75 more miles.

you can tell just how steep that section of Powerline is in the picture since your not employing the one finger brake method. I saw a rider coming down Columbine and knew it was Kenny even before I saw the kit – I gave him all the room he wanted to pass…big dude

I had no idea your SS was full rigid this year… jee bus.

It’s a good course for rigid SS; you don’t spend a lot of time on parts of the course that are improved with a suspension fork. – FC

did you end up changing your gearing before the race? I ran 32×20 since it was my first LT100 just so I could survive it. Great Job! it was the highlight of my day, well besides finishing, seeing you flying down Columbine.

I did wind up changing my gearing just before the race. I had a conversation with Kenny where I told him I was worried 34 x 19 was too tall a gear. He reminded me that he used a similar gear last year and it was too tall, and recommended I go with 34 x 20. Which I did. – FC
