Your focus likely prevented you from noticing the hoards of badgers that were nipping at you as you pedaled, the way that you were SURELY slowed as crowds surged onto the narrow roads to try to touch your jersey as you shot by, or perhaps even the clouds of gnats, mosquitos, and hornets that pelted your face at such high speeds! Actually, for us non-tri folks, it might actually be interesting to hear how the Shiv does on steep climbs, where you're out of the saddle and stomping on the pedals as hard as you can to keep momentum.
