Yes, a good read. I tried to print it but wasn’t able. I had some trouble picturing the setting. Laps = 6.2 x 2 miles? Seven laps with the 8 miles getting there and back adds approx to 100? Am thinking you must be settled for the night somewhere in Vermont. Have a good night’s rest and a good ride tomorrow.

Great Ride report! I love the window into your head. To see what goes on in others people’s minds. That it is not much different than the voices in our own head. This is somehow refreshing. You should guest blog sometimes.
MattC @ Thank You for the earworm! Now I have bits of “Henry the 8th” and the theme from Gilligan’s Island” crashing around in my head and they come up as sort of a remix that sounds like “Gilligan the 8th”. This is very disquieting.

I love your story, you took me through so much of the way long rides happen for me. The ambition, the observation, the crushing ennui. I notice redwing blackbirds all the time, then my earworm becomes.”Blackbirds singing in the dead of niiiiight” which represent fully 7 of the 10 or so words I know to the entire song. What’s worse an ear worm you’re familiar with, or the elusive ear humming worm? Jury’s still out.

Great writing! Do you blog? I want more.

It’s actually quite SAD that I can’t remember what I did yesterday, or what I’m supposed to do TODAY…however I can remember all that stuff…(want me to go thru the ENTIRE “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” dialog? @ Uni-Tom: Ahhh…Hermans Hermits…I have that album (yes, actual VINYL) somewhere in my attic along with all my OTHER albums.

I’m Henery the 8th I am, Henery the Eigth I am I am…I got married to the widow next door…she’s been married seven times before…and every-one was a Henery…ARGHHHHHH! STOP THE VOICES!

Great…now I”ll NEVER get that song out of my head! Unless I replace it with something else…hmmm…

How about the Banana Splits “Tra-la-la” song? Or better yet, the theme-song from Gilligans Island! Yeah..that’s the ticket!

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale…a tale of a fateful trip….that started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailin’ man, the skipper brave and sure….5 passengers set sail that day, for a three hour tour….a three hour tour. (crackle of lightening) The weather started getting rough…the tiny ship was tossed..if not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost…the Minnow would be lost.

Yep…that did it…now I’ll have that in my brain all thru the 100 miler on Sunday up in Davis…maybe I’ll sing aloug and SHARE my pain!!
