At least if you'd come off the rollers at the end, you'd simply have gotten wet!

Nice job with the refreshment strategy. I wonder how my local ride organizers can get a sponsorship from Tanqueray or maybe the local brewpub!

Derek here. Glad everybody likes our little write-up. Thought I'd respond to some of the comments:
1) Yes, I was a little ashamed at my diving form after seeing the picture! Oh well - something to work on for next year.
2) Didn't catch a thing. Not so much as a nibble. There are usually some good size bass in there but only the mosquitoes were biting.
3) Full disclosure - limes were used in the G&T's.
4) We certainly hope to have our little guy join us for rides like this in the future. In fact, we just returned today from a four day ride down the P'tit Train du Nord - a 200km long rail to trail conversion in Quebec with him riding along in his Chariot.

Delightful! Your little B is a fine mechanic/trainer/soigneur and I love how you incorporated his demands into the story. Truly a taskmaster!

The photos of you diving into the lake in cycling gear are perfection! And fishing while cycling? Priceless!

These reports stun me with their variety. As someone else observed: we are an amazing diverse group of strange cyclists.

Very nice 100MoN report. I hope that in about 7 years Fatty is still hosting this epic event and your family can make that 3 X 100MoN. I can 'see' that you guys have many miles...er...Km to ride together into to the sunset.
Thank you for sharing this one.

A gin and tonic made with anything else wouldn't be a proper gin and tonic. Did you go all "Great Britain" on the drink and use a lemon?
