It's a great read but like others, I hoped for a lot more detail about his battle of the buldge.

One critisism is, at the very beginning he states that he dislikes books by former dopers and stories about doping, so in his words he says, this is not one of those books... but he sure mentions doping A LOT throughout.

When I finished reading this last month, I was sad. I loved it and it was so well written. I loaned it to my friend who hasn't read it yet as he is redoing the bathroom he promised his wife he would redo after purchasing his 5th bike.Twisted priorities if you ask me. You can pee anywhere.

Excellent review! Although I can hardly read, and have even less time to do so, you've convinced me that I need to pick this one up so it can sit on my bookshelf (alone) to taunt me.

This is easy to say now, but I suggest setting up either a Facetime and/or a telephone connection with future Spreecast interviews so that you automatically have an alternate connection in place in case there are technical problems. Thank you for the effort; it is appreciated.

Yes, I've already got a plan for next time. A really good plan. - FC

I read the book and found the insight into the life of a pro fascinating and disturbing. The lengths they go to and the pressures are astounding given the lousy remuneration for most of them. It makes me appreciate being in a position to provide for my family while being able to enjoy the occasional bike ride, just for the fun of it, with only my own goals to pressure me.
I thought your review was accurate and found the book well written myself. I just tuned in to hear the replay of the interview and was very disappointed with the technology failure that spoiled it. I did not see any of the chat you were referring to - it does not seem to be a part of the recording.

I was JUST looking at this book at Barnes & Noble yesterday and ended up going with something else. Now I'm regretting that decision.

I'll be vague to avoid spoiling it, but the response from Powers to the guy sitting next to him on the flight to China made me laugh myself into a stupor.

Can't wait for Fatty's next review, where he compares and contrasts The Twins first writing assignment for 7th Grade. And then reviews the teachers review.
