The Dog Ears are great -- until they break your Garmin mount. I have two teammates who experienced that. I've had the tabs on two separate Garmins break off and lost one of them. In a fit of rage and inspiration I came up with the G-SAVR. http://g-savr.com

Just like @Mark in Bremerton, I use safety glasses for riding. They come in various tints, can be got for under a $1 and the pair I am using (Starlite)have lasted a year with no scratches, are comfortable, and hold my rear-view mirror well. I never worry about losing or breaking them and have an untinted pair for overcast or night time riding. They fit my meme of the "Frugal Cyclist".

Regarding sunglasses, I have been using $7 safety glasses (my favorites are Crews Tremor) for years. Even get comments about how cool they look. They don't scratch and have UV protection. Most importantly, when I lose them or crash (or, sadly, drop them in the middle of the road) I don't feel so bankrupted. I keep several pairs with various lenses around all the time.

I just recently got to the chapter in The Great Fatsby in which you bemoan your lack of mechanical prowess, and here you are acting all mechanical and fixy like. You must have more mechanical ability than you admit to having.

The Dogears look like a great product. Are the Natives available for prescription lenses? I had a pair of Oakleys a few prescriptions back that I liked, but they have bowed to updated scrips and less than completely satisfactory frames.

I've been riding with Natives for years. Love them. They have a great lifetime warranty. I'm on my third pair (Bought 2, 1 was a warranty replacement). My first pair was smashed up in a bad crash that also took out my helmet, but that's just a fabulous story (now) involving blood and broken bones and railroad tracks over which I still cannot ride.

I just got a pair for my husband for his birthday. Really nice specs.

I don't really use my jersey pockets except for the odd food bar. I guess I should trust them more! I'm just convinced that stuff will go flying out and I'd end up home with no keys and no cleat covers. Has this EVER happened? No, but anxiety isn't logical.

Thanks for the post! I've broken two Garmin 500's (one beyond repair) and have been riding on one with broken tabs for over a year. I've already ordered a Dogears.
