I'd not heard of Arctic Circle. Having looked them up online I see they are providing a valuable service to the American public by whacking huge amounts of calories into a single beverage so you don't need to bother eating much else that day. The large Almond Roca Shake for example gives you a hefty 1,512 calories and 205% of your daily saturated fats in one hit. Couldn't find the Dunford Chocolate Donut Milkshake - maybe it broke the measuring eqipment.

@Tom, TOTALLY with you on the "not reading ahead" plan. After all, I have to read it both in print and on Kindle when it's published!

Ordered my copy - can't wait to read it. LOVE the frog picture - nothing more wonderful than seeing the world being discovered through the eyes of a child...

So, Fatty. I'm just letting you know that I'm reading your accountability reports but I'm skipping the previews of the book because I'm 'that guy' that detests spoilers. I wasn't reading your blog during this period of your life and I'm looking forward to sitting down and reading the book and getting the whole thing at once. It's my own issue but, I don't like reading a book where I say to myself, 'Hey. I read this part. I could skip it...' I just feel like it interferes with the flow. So, I'm going to hold off on the excerpts.

As to your accountability, I think You've bitten off a huge task here to purposefully dredge up all of this for your book and I commend you for it. Most people get through it and just move on, reliving the past only when absolutely necessary and not voluntarily.

Excellent writing.

I wonder if the girls remember their snow creations; they are pretty remarkable considering the smattering of snow they had to work with (but it would have been enough to bring the Pacific Northwest to a halt).

After reading this exert today, I thought I'd pre-order a copy, but when I went to the sale link it didn't look like I could buy it for my kindle which is linked in with Amazon.com.au ... I'll have to wait for the official release.

Dunford chocolate donut milkshake at Arctic Circle? Where have I been? I'm just imagining all the lbs I would've gained had I known about this earlier. Thanks for telling me about it, Fatty. *sarcasm font*

Fatty, your time in Washington almost exactly overlapped with my time away from Washington. I moved to North Carolina for a job and missed the Seattle area a lot but you were writing about the places I used to ride. That really stoked my passion to move back which we did shortly after you moved back to Utah. Now I live at the south end of Sammamish and ride past your old neighborhood regularly. You might be surprised to know that Sammamish is kind of an epicenter of mtn biking in the area with 3 big parks and all levels of trails. Nothing like Utah, but people come from all over the metro area to ride here and the local mtn bike advocacy org is building new dedicated trails in the Cascades.

Really excellent. Great writing, and I will be anxiously awaiting the complete book.

Caught one error - "...took to driving through the Tree House neighborhood ..."

Almost every time my wife and I have been house hunting we have looked and looked until we just know we have found the one. You can feel it in your gut when you are there, in your case a whole neighborhood.
