Following Jill

giantjill.jpgLike many (but nowhere near as stalky as some), I love following Jill Homer’s giant treks / races / adventures.

Well, as of Friday, Jill is on another cycling quest: she’s riding the Great Divide as part of the Tour Divide race: 2,745 miles of self-supported racing along the Great Divide.

It’s huge. Bigger than huge, really. It’s huge-errific.

I know a lot of my readers also read Jill’s blog (and some of her readers read mine), so to make it easy for all of us, I’ve put a set of links in my blog’s right channel (right under my LiveStrong Challenge tracker) to make it easy to track her progress.

Jill’s a remarkably talented person: a strong rider, gifted photographer, and great writer. I strongly recommend tracking her race with an almost (but not quite) Dicky-like obsessiveness.

That SPOT satellite tracking is pretty cool!

Good luck to Jill! I wonder what she’s riding – presumably not her Pugsley. ;-)

No sign of Dave Nice on the leaderboard…

    WIN SUSAN!!

As of now she’s in the top ten… if my counting and the website are accurate…

Been following her as well. Glad you added the links here. Hang tough Jill!

Yes, I’ll admit I’ve been following her too.

I tried to zoom in on the SPOT leader board for a close-up, but I guess it don’t work that way.

    Meh.

Wow, she just keeps getting taller and taller! Will she ever stop growing?

It’s a good thing Jill has started out slowly with no plan in mind and is “going to take it easy for a few more days”. Otherwise she might not be ‘languishing’ back in 6th place, with only 30+ behind her.

What a gun! Canada, fear her!!

(And yes dicky, you are a bit obsessive and confused about technology)

    Hi!

Forgive me for likely posting in the wrong place…..love this post about Jill! Love your site.

I’m from Cincinnati and Queen City Wheels Club/Team.

I used to be 300 lbs and now I’m 180 on a good day…but I race my bicycle anyway. Set a record at at hilly 40K Time Trial course on Saturday and now I’m far too full of myself. ;-)

Looking for info on other fatties who race USCF and other road races…. Currently teamed up with a new race promoter, BigDave, and think you could help us a lot with “the cause.”

    Thanks,

    Mary Sunshine

    Buckey:
FYI on David Nice – He is doing a reverse ITT out of New Mexico. You can track him at the website under the ITT race tracker, but he will not show on the leader board because they left from Canada.

I just went ahead and added a link to the page on the site where you can track Dave Nice, too. I figure Dave deserves some love, after all. – FC

FC-nice of Jill to mention you in her first post with your words of wisdom and all :) You have indeed hit the big time!

Thanks for the links. It will be fun to follow Jill.

How does one get to be able to do these things with their life? I assume Jill must be very wealthy. I would love to be able to spend my time this way but the costs would be far greater than my income if i quit my job to ride 2500 miles.

I wish her a safe journey.

    Peace

apparently Jill’s not the only FC reader that’s done this ride!
