Room 18

The floor slopes so much in the hotel that they level the left and right side of the bed with different numbers of 2 x 4 blocks.

Question…Does Kenny automatically pose when there is a camera in his vicinity? Just wondering, he is always posed like a male model. =)

Good luck & Ride Hard !!

It’ll be cosy in that bed for all five of you :-)

That is the worst picture ever published on Fatcyclist ever. Not because its blurry and you all look like you are going to enjoy a bunch of man loving this evening but because I am not there. That picture sucks!

  8. Comment by bradk | 08.13.2009 | 9:12 pm

I really don’t like any of you. Especially, shorty short shorts Chloubler.

  9. Comment by bradk | 08.13.2009 | 9:13 pm

Where is he anyway? I’m surprised he’s not in that picture. I’m not bitter, really I’m not.

Good luck in the race but I must tell you that I am an avid Lance fan. Hope you can stay in that bed and the blocks don’t slip on you. Lay still and you might make it during the night.

  11. Comment by Dr Michael Lammler | 08.13.2009 | 9:29 pm

Um, let us know how many 3am wake up calls you get for room 18…since you let EVERYONE know where you are…not that I’d do that or anything.

  12. Comment by Born 4 Lycra | 08.13.2009 | 9:42 pm

Good call mtnbkr 8:47 it is then. Still have not heard anything on Kenny’s form.
Doc Lammler Rm 18 may not actually be FC’s – can the first person who calls write and tell us who is in there. Only jokin……

Oooh OOh FC tell LA it’s over 570k and we want a pic at least in the arm warmers.

I think that by now the odds on winning the lottery are better than winning the Orbea with all the money that has been raised so far.

That is a great number to have to deal with.

You have to tell Ricky M that I am going to start up the Australian chapter of his fan club. I have watched the first 3 seconds of Grove II sooooo many times and it still makes me giggle. Classic

Eldon, my mom’s a survivor. Good luck to you to at Leadville. I can see that the most important thing in your life is Susan’s legacy. Be glad that you’ve touched several lives outside of the cycling community. Also, I hope you get that worn out feeling after the race, it doesn’t get any better. :)

It makes for longer times for in-room trackstand competitions.

jenjen – “Room 18… sounds like the title of a horror movie.”

And the carpet on those stairs would be a great place to start shooting it.

Good luck Fatty! Those guys look like the best drafting partners ever! :-D

Fatty, We stopped in Leadville for dinner last year at the end of a road bike tour. We got to watch riders cross the finish line at this race. Covered with mud, they were so wiped they need help taking their camelbaks off. Have a great time!

  24. Comment by OUCH | 08.14.2009 | 6:21 am

LOL! Is this blog a big joke? An experiment in generating fawning comments? ‘The most important thing in your life is Susan’s legacy’?
The most important thing in your life is your kids. Their mom just died. You are playing with your buddies in CO. In what universe is this acceptable? Grow a pair, go home.

  25. Comment by Born 4 Lycra | 08.14.2009 | 6:31 am

Good stuff Ouch all class. I’d ask the same question of your email, check out the whole story. If you still feel the same way then you are in the wrong universe. If you change your mind donate to Livestrong and your apology is accepted.

  26. Comment by Kate | 08.14.2009 | 6:51 am

    Wow OUCH…

If you want to see what this blog is about I’d suggest you read it rather than complain under an anonymous comment!

Not to mention, in what universe would it be acceptable for you to tell someone who just lost his wife and is obviously incredibly centered on his family that he’s not doing enough?

Cut some slack. The best thing Elden can do right now is show his kids that as much as it sucks, the world hasn’t ended.

    Grow up.

  27. Comment by Jaime O. | 08.14.2009 | 7:30 am

There’s something off about a bunch of manly men posing for the camera next to a girly bed. That strangeness aside, what a fabulous bunch!

  28. Comment by Nate V. | 08.14.2009 | 7:34 am

    ouch
who’s to say that his kids didn’t tell him to go? They’ve ridden with him, they know how much he loves it and that riding is good for him. Maybe just maybe they wanted him to go.
Maybe just maybe the fact that Armstrong will be there and that Fatty can go might to more to bring more attention to combating this terrible disease.

Poor form to push your views on how you think someone else should manage their grief.

    Fatty – kick some ass!

  29. Comment by Jaime O. | 08.14.2009 | 7:34 am

Oh, and OUCH? Perhaps you could shut the hell up until you walk a mile in Elden’s (biking) shoes. And if you are going to judge, how about YOU grow a pair and post under your name with a working link and email so we can all reply to you privately. I give Elden about a hour to tell us all to stop being rude to you, so I think I’ll slip in under the wire.

  30. Comment by BikecopVT | 08.14.2009 | 7:48 am

    Fatty,

Don’t drop your marbles in that room you might lose them. I’d hate to see you lose your marbles.

That’s hysterical! Great picture. OUCH is a dick.

  32. Comment by Beth | 08.14.2009 | 8:07 am

Gosh Ouch; now not that it might be an actuality, but what if the kids are there and Elden thought; whoa….no need to tell ALL of my life story….

Go back under your rock and don’t be an a**

  33. Comment by Fat Sister | 08.14.2009 | 8:15 am

Although black-souled comments never merit responses, I’d like the FC community to know that the kiddos are extremely proud of the old Fat Daddy.
But he really shouldn’t know, so please don’t tell him, about the delirious chasing through the house with cousins, staying up late to watch the meteor shower on the trampoline, overly-frequent Snoasis shack visits, and racking-up of debt at the water park. If he knew his children were going through this alone with their aunt, grandma, and cousins, he’d quit his self-serving fight for cancer-curing and come right home. Don’t tell.

Fighting grief is a head-on personal thing. It’s been slippery so far, but the most effective cure, we’re finding here at the homestead, is joy.

Keep on with your dual fight, Fat Dad and Friends. As someone (can’t remember Who) said once, “The kids are alright.”

  34. Comment by Nathan Taylor | 08.14.2009 | 8:31 am

    Fat Sister,

It’s obvious that whatever family trait Fatty has that gives him his strength you have too. That comment was darn near perfect.

    Allez Family Fatty!

  35. Comment by Jaime O. | 08.14.2009 | 11:28 am

Fat Sister (who is likely as fat as my pencil), we love Elden’s siblings as much as we love him. None of us who are close to our siblings can imagine making it through life without them. It sounds like a lot of fun in Alpine right now. I’d rather hang out with you all and the kids then bike a mountain. :)Our love and prayers extend to all of you.

  36. Comment by Haven (used to be Kt) | 08.14.2009 | 12:29 pm

Wow, what an.. um.. interesting picture.

Nice four-poster bed, does it come with flimy curtains?

OUCH: obviously, you haven’t read this blog beyond the last week. How about you grow a pair, per your own advice, and learn a little bit about Elden and his family before spouting off?

Sorry, Fatty. And thanks, Fat Sister (who isn’t, I’ll wager), for setting Ouch straight! :)

  37. Comment by nono | 08.14.2009 | 2:24 pm

Ouch, what an ignorant and undeserved comment. Do yourself a favor and make your self rightous, pompous ass read this blog from the beginning. If you can still come to the same conclusion, then you need professional therapy in order to determine how to eradicate the evil that is in your soul that makes you think leaving a comment like that is acceptable under any circumstance.

Allez Fatty & the Nelson family, Allez.

  38. Comment by Jaybird | 08.14.2009 | 2:33 pm

I wish I could hug Fat Sister right now!

    GO FATTY GO!

we’re here cheering you down the mountain! Don’t let any negative comment stop you from enjoying this day. You ARE allowed to continue living life… and what a way to celebrate your anniversary. Susan will be with you on that mountain :)
