Look how happy I am in the below photo. That’s because in that photo I’m about 40 miles into a 76-mile mountain bike ride.

And not–as I am now–dealing with the fact that Comcast service is currently totally out right now.

Which means I have no Internet, no TV, no landline phone.

So this entry is coming to you courtesy of my thumbs on my mobile phone.

As you might expect, it will be somewhat brief.

First, Team Fatty has swept the awards for the Davis LiveStrong Challenge. Huzzah! And a big "Thanks!" to everyone who raised money and / or donated in this contest.

I will choose winners for the 2 bikes and the Ride for the Roses Trip…as soon as I have Internet access on my computer again. Grrrrr.

Next, I have had an awesome, rideful long weekend. I have observations to make and stories to tell.

Also, I seem to have managed to agree to be the title sponsor for a race coming up in a couple weekends. I will talk about that soon, too.

For now, though, I believe I shall treat this Internet outage as a sign that I should go on a ride. I suggest that you, too, go on a ride. If anyone asks you why you’re riding during working hours, just tell them, "Fatty’s Internet connection is out; it’s a sign that I should go on a ride."

I’ll back you up on it.

Gotta love Comcast!!! You remembered to pay, right?

If your mobile is receiving then you will know that [DELETED BY A VERY ANGRY FATTY]!

Hope someone is recording all the news for you !

Congrats to Team Fatty for sweeping the awards !

Skippy, Don’t ever spoil a stage like that again. I go out of my way to avoid cycling sites during the day so I can enjoy the TdF as if it were live when I watch it at night.

People, this is not a site to discuss the current day’s results. Most of us reading/writing this blog time-shift the Tour. – FC.

Man, I WISH I could pull that off…but I’m afraid not. But I DID ride all 3 days over the long weekend..that was pretty great! Sure could use a few MORE 3 day’ers.

Cool we swept the awards Fatty (are you SURE nobody can overtake us/you at the last second, ala Austin 2 years ago? I’m just askin’).

Golly and gadzooks it’s coming SO FAST now…driving up FRIDAY…see ya’all there! (oh, and I’ll take a 58cm frame on MY Madone…thought I’d get that out there now).

Uhm, Skippy, you kind’ a need to toss out a spoiler alert at the top of your comment when you toss out the day’s results, cuz there are believe it or not some of us who would have liked to watch the stage tonight and NOT know who won…

I agree with MattC – if I wanted TdF info I’d be checking the internet for it. Now it will be a bit anticlimactic watching tonight.

    I’m with MattC.

  7. Comment by Christine | 07.5.2011 | 10:32 am

    I also agree with MattC.

Like everyone else I like the surprise of the finish.

MattC- note Fatty’s ride was along the snowline, with green trees and mountain air. Has he been to Davis before? In Summer? Should we tell him?

Looking forward to Friday and the ride Sunday. Go Team!

Can’t wait for FRIDAY!!! This will be an awesome weekend of great people and great riding.

I get to see my brothers from another mother MattC and GregC. I get to pretend I have been riding my bike enough to be ready for this ride. Actually, true to Fatty spirit I used the Fatty non training training plan. Let the SufferFest Begin!!! :-)

Can’t wait to see you all. Remember we are taking over the Hall of Fame on Friday, from 6-10 so come on by.

I also suggest maybe a team warm up ride Saturday morning. Not too early, but not too late either. I’d rather wait to see the devil until Sunday.:-)

Angie-I am def. up for a ride on Saturday. Since I will still be on East coast time the earlier the better.

Great job on the awards sweep. Wish I could be there, or at least Philly, maybe next year.

  12. Comment by Judy | 07.5.2011 | 11:41 am

I so wish I could join y’all at Davis, unfortunately, it’s a bit too much logistically for this San Jose girl. Hopefully next year they will move it back :)

Not good that your internet is down, however does that mean if a donation happened to come in a few minutes after your cutoff this morning, it might now be eligible for the drawing? :)

Great news on sweeping the categories! AngieG, glad to know I won’t be the only one partaking in SufferFest. See you in Davis!

TeamFattyDavis: we had triple digit temps over the long weekend here in the Sacramento region. They are expected to continue next couple of days. As of today, NOAA is forecasting upper 80’s for Sunday. Big bottle time.
Those looking for a Saturday ride might want to check out the American River Parkway: http://www.msa2.saccounty.net/parks/Documents/ParkwayMap.pdf or any of these rides:http://centralcaliforniacycling.com/ and: http://www.tandems-recumbents.com/gcmaps/bike_rides_index.htm

    Cheers.

Awesome news that you swept the awards Fatty!! I just wish I had remembered to go back and send $ to your account and get in on the raffle. DOH!!

I work on a modified 3rd shift, so when I get off work (about 8am EST), I have until about 4-5pm EST (when I need to start getting ready for bed) to get a ride in. Although I will go for a ride after the tour is on, as it is always best to watch live (if you want to sit though the whole stage that is)

So end of story I always ride during a normal persons working hours.

On a side note, do you really read every comment that people post on your blog (disregarding when your service is down).

On a side note, side note, I hope you don’t plan on watching the tour latter, as this tour has been very exciting so far.

@MoN #4450 – Good call on American River Parkway. I had forgotten about that and was thinking I might want a little casual spin on Saturday.

I’m holding out hope I might find a ride down from Oregon to Davis in time for Friday, but it is slim hope.

Oh, and can we declare victory when the deadline is still a day and half away?

Once I went nine days without observing any personal hygiene habits at all! I smelled funny!

    Kristina-
Is your goiter growing? Mine is the size of a cantaloupe!

    Kristina,

My eyes are the size of walnuts! I think paper is delicious!

    Yay us!

I am way too sunburned to ride this Holiday, but I guess I’ll make up for it in Davis.

Can you all please show some love out there and not get down on the FC??? Please???

  25. Comment by Sylvia | 07.5.2011 | 10:32 pm

Hey Judy, You are most welcome to come up to Sac and stay with Donna or me and we can ferry you around if need be. We didn’t do the ride last year, but we’re both doing it this year.

  26. Comment by Mark J. | 07.6.2011 | 7:56 am

Kristina and Erin, if you have so much to say start your own blog. Chances are if Fatty doesn’t want to see your comments the rest of us don’t either.

My mother taught me something that I will pass along to you:

If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

PROFOUND APOLOGIES TO FATTY & OTHERS FOR THE SPOILER!

Pushing hard through the day and forgetting others ” time zones ” when posting at whereever i can find as i scramble to cope with all that needs to be done each day is no excuse !
