Back Monday

Hi there.

I’m working hard on proofing Susan’s book, The Forgotten Gift, and getting together all of the little pieces you don’t think about when you’re just reading a book (writing the back cover stuff, acknowledgments, determining pricing, that kind of thing).

So I’ll be back to writing this blog next week. I hope.

Meanwhile, maybe you could do me a favor. If you are — or know someone — who could help get the word out about this book — reviews and publicity — leave a comment or send me an email.

Thanks!

I and a lot of other book worms I know get recommendations from Goodreads.com . This might be helpful: http://www.goodreads.com/author/program

That is helpful, Bethany, thank you! – FC

    Don’t forget the anti-coupon

If you’d like to help more, I’d like you to instead purchase multiple copies – one for you, others for teenage friends/relatives. They’re the target audience, and I think that will be a good way to spread the word. Plus, the more copies that sell, the higher up the bestseller list it climbs, hopefully up to a point where it has momentum of its own. – FC

Congrats on getting the book published! When I told my wife your story, she was already on amazon looking to pre-order! She has been doing book reviews for our friend, Brett Battles (spy novel author) and said she would be honored to write a review….or anything else that would be helpfull. Feel free to email for anything that would be helpfull!
Best wishes and thank you for the inspiration your story has provided. I don’t know if you realize how many lives you have touched or the strength you have provided to others during their dark hours!

Fatty, I’m going to tell my wife’s book club and my sister’s book club. I think they’ll eat this one up based on the concept. And, I think they’ll eat up the, “I think the last chapter would have gone something like….”

Take all the time you need. We’re not going anywhere.

Book bloggers might be a consideration for your marketing effort. Google “Book Bloggers” and go from there–there are several directories, etc. and each blogger has their own review criteria (genre, publishing type).

    Good luck!

Eldon, we can get the word out about Susan’s book. I sent you an email with more info. Cyclists at the Skinny Tire Festival are either dealing with cancer themselves or have someone they love who is dealing with it. They will be inspired by your book. Will you be our guest speaker? – Beth

If I could be so crass as to suggest you leverage (hah!) your friends and friends friends.

Paul Guyot -> Wil Wheaton -> John Scalzi

Wil and John have hugely popular blogs.

    Fatty,
I’d be happy to pass a sample chapter (or whatever you’re sending) to my editor. It’s a long shot, but I know she’s got an interest in breast cancer issues and may have connections, though the publishers I am working with are more exercise-related. But you never know! Email me!
    Jenni
(P.S. OR, I can just email introduce you two and you can move forward however it may help…)

Haha, davidh-marin,ca. What’s goodreads.com, who’s Paul Guyot (chef?) -> Wil Wheaton (actor?) -> John Scalzi (mechanic?)? I’m willing to bet he’s trying to reach more than just book nerds and bike people/chefs, actors, mechanics…I hope. If not, goodreads.com and the rest it is. If you want to reach America, facebook and Oprah, especially Oprah…that’s where it’s at (besides Jay Z, beyonce, honey boo boo, and the real housewives of you-name-it)!

I hope the book is a wild success no matter what route you take! I know the proceeds will go to a good cause. I look forward to reading it.
