Pardon me while I make some big life-affecting decisions

11.7.2013 | 10:42 am

Hi there. I’ve been up since 5:00am, writing installment #3 of my 25 Hours in Frog Hollow race report.

Except it would be a lot more accurate for me to say, “I’ve been trying to write installment #3 of my 25 Hours in Frog Hollow race report.” Because in reality, I’ve gotten maybe five sentences out.

See, I’ve got other stuff on my mind. Big stuff. Life-affecting stuff. And I can’t write right now. So please accept this apology as a poor excuse for a post today.

By tomorrow, I think I’ll be able to write again. And possibly even start describing what I’m being so mysterious about.

Trying to decide on your health care and pension plan I see…

Yeah, I have open enrollment at work right now too. My health plan just got cancelled due in part to Obomacare and I now have to figure out which new option will add less to my healthcare costs for the year given 15 different possible scenerios and thousands more out of pocket. It seems to come down to: Will I crash my bike next year requiring hospitalization or just need stitches? (those can obvoiusly be self administered)

What? your issues are much bigger than that? Oh. Then carry on.

Take as much time as you need! I don’t know what to say other than I’ll keep you and the Fatty family in my thoughts and prayers.

I feel fortunate in that not much has changed at my work for health care. My company rocks. We do pay out of pocket costs, but our company picks up a majority of the cost and we also cost share so those who make less, pay less (my firm has always done that). That said, I opted out and am on my husband’s insurance. He works for the federal govt. We will see what changes with his healthcare plan. They don’t get free health coverage – we pay for it, but his plan had better benefits than mine last year. Not sure what will change with the new plans.

PS Is anyone interested in a gathering spot off-site? i.e., a Facebook group page for FoF (Friends of Fatty). It would be nice to colloborate with those that are planning to go to Davis next year as well as brainstorm ideas and pass along event information where this really isn’t the right forum since it’s Fatty’s. :) Does anyone know if there are other sites simliar to Facebook, but without all the privacy invasion and picture stealing for ads?

shoot…I’m still stuck on Ginger or Mary Ann…(well, not really…OBVIOUSLY the choice is Mary Ann!)

My dog asked me to tell you your hair looks okay.

At least “okay” enough not to qualify as “life-affecting.” Yet.

As usual, I don’t get half the stuff he says.

He woke me up at 5 this morning to tell me he’d been re-thinking his answer to the question: “Who’s a good dog”?

I don’t evern recall asking him that.

Good luck with your questions and decisions!

(Why is it the present always looks bigger than the future until it becomes the past? I put that one to my dog this morning. That kept him busy long enough for me to get back to sleep.)

Wow, Fatty, I think you’ve entered the realm of legendary writers when even writing nothing turns into a cliffhanger. I will not sleep tonight.

    @MattC. check – Mary Ann
@Byron – three or four for pooping, but two is OK for after. (What the heck do you use TP for during, anyway?)

@AKChick – sure, yahoo groups, google groups, etc… probably too much choice.

I *would* be willing to help administer something. Gotta have something to do in the down time between riding and reading Fatty’s posts.

Boxers or Briefs I get stumped all the time on that. Frankly it always depends if it’s ‘date night’ or not.

As much as we love reading about your exploits, I have a feeling that folks here would much rather you take care of yourself and your family before entertaining us. Don’t feel like you need to apologize to us… we all know it’s going to take a few weeks to tell us all the Epic (25 hrs of MTB race is the proper usage of the word ‘Epic’) story. We can wait a few days, or even weeks. I suspect the masses will rise up if it’s months…

    Cheers!

$ for $ match going on with WBR right now. I bet he’s auctioning off Levi Leipheimer.

PLEASE AUCTION OFF LEVI. He can bring Odessa.

Whatever it is, Fatty, please know that you have our full support. Take care of your family and the people you love first, and everything else will fall into place. We’ll wait (not necessarily patiently, mind you), but all jokes aside, you know we love you and share your concerns and your burdens.

The great thing about friends is that they know when you need a little lift, or when whatever it is that is weighing you down is just too much for now and you need a little help carrying the load. And you have some really great friends.

    Be well.

SteveB – What do you think is the easiest forum for folks to use out of all the options and which is still respectful of privacy and won’t steal your photos, friends, etc.?

Forgot to mention this yesterday, but LEROY’S DOG IS BACK! :) One of the first things I do after reading Fatty’s latest post is look for Leroy’s dog. I’m always sad when he doesn’t comment (or rather when Leroy doesn’t translate for him). :)

back at ya @AKChick… I think that combo of requirements may not be possible in real life. I don’t have experience with enough of them to have a favorite. Does anyone else want to chime in on this?

To think that you could go through that experience of cancer and come out so strong! Good for you, I think you will really excel at your writing endevors.

Noticed the early comments referred to ” Obama care ” , and whilst i am seeing uproar in the Media about People ” losing ” or ” paying More ” on their Health insurance, would really like to find a source that can explain WHAT is going on ?

As i am in Austria , and treated free , as Retired , i seem to have the best of both worlds , and find it strange that people can be at jeopardy , through no fault of their own ?

Having watched Jimmy Fallon late night show , in the past days i am bemused about the Health care system .
