I’ll start working on my race report during the flight home today, but meanwhile, please enjoy this photograph of an unusually attractive bag lady I photographed in the early hours before the race yesterday.
She looks happy, sleeping there with a cardboard pillow. And remarkably fit. As if she might wake at any moment, shed those twenty layers of clothes and start running.
And running and running.

The Runner and I crossed together after an amazing day. To be clear, she waited up for me so I could finish with her.
Then, just to show the race hadn’t beat us, we walked two miles back to our hotel.
I’ll have a full writeup soon. For now, shower and food. Then sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.

The Runner and I are hanging around eating bagels in the "orange" village — the racers are divided up by colors. Which means that there are a couple more giant areas here, also filled up with thousands of people waiting for their turn to run.
This place is surreal.
2:30 til our start time (10:10 ET).
If you want to track our progress, my bib number is 30629. The Runner has promised to stay with me.

Check out the puffy fashion The Runner and I are sporting. Some big poly-fill coats bought at a thrift store will do a nice job of keeping us warm while we wait in the cold for three hours before our wave starts.
At that point we’ll discard the coats and sexy track pants that accompany them. These will then be collected and given to the homeless.
We’re staying warm, looking sassy, and picking up a few good karma points too.
